Tis the Season to be Married!… How to bring the Christmas Spirit into your Wedding!
So with Christmas just around the corner I’ve been feeling awfully festive this week!… so I thought for my blog post this week I’d do one for all the December Brides who want to bring the Christmas Spirit into their Winter Wedding!
To start off with, December is a FAB time for a Wedding!
The frosty weather brings everyone together… venues have their fires lit and ready for everyone to huddle around. The darker nights also mean better sparkler and firework photos! And not to quote from too many Christmas songs but… its the most wonderful time of the yearrrrr!.
Not to mention…
- FREE DECOR – most venues will already have a lot of decorations up – wreaths on the entrance doors, on the staircases, on the fireplace mantlepieces. Floor-to-ceiling Christmas Trees etc. so it can end up saving you a HUGE chunk of your budget on the decoration front!
And because of all the additional decorations your wedding photos will look fabulously festive!…
- TOP TIP: Make sure to take some wedding photos on a plain/neutral background so that you have a few non-festive ones, that way your photos can be used all year round – although you obviously LOVE Christmas… you may not necessarily want Christmas Photos hanging in your home or as your Phone Screensaver all year long.
There are many many ways to make your Wedding super Christmassy…
Here’s just a few ideas to get you started… (feel free to add more festive inspo in the comments below!):
- Drinks:
- Warm Mulled Wine for your Drinks Reception (Warm Apple Cider too!)
- How about some Winter Spiced Cocktails added to the Drinks List? Hell.. lets throw some eggnog in there too!
- Baileys Hot Chocolates
- Bucks Fizz for your toasts
- And how about a fill-your-own bauble bar!
- Food:
- What could be better than a full Christmas Dinner, Turkey & all the trimmings for your Wedding Breakfast
- How about Mini Christmas Puds for Canapés… or some Mulled Wine Macarons!
- A Cheese Board for Dessert? Camembert & Brie with Cranberry. Yum!
- Mince Pie Tower (instead of a Cupcake Tower Wedding Cake?)
- Attire:
- Faux Fur Wraps for the girls.
- A red lip for you… classic.
- Bridesmaids in Emerald Green Dresses… this is TOTALLY going to be the colour of 2021… I can just feel it!
- And what about an ‘Ugly Christmas Jumper Contest’ for your Evening Reception! I’ve seen this at one of my weddings before… it was such a laugh, the level of commitment by the guests was brilliant! (You could even do this for your rehearsal dinner the night prior to your wedding with your family and close friends if you’re have a 2 Day Wedding… or perhaps do it for the morning after… a good laugh could help ease those all-too-certain hangovers!)
- Florals:
- How about having your Bridesmaids carry Wreaths/Garlands instead of Bouquets!
- Incorporate Holly & Ivy, Berries into your flowers
- Mini Poinsettias as Favours?
- Mini Christmas Tree Centrepieces on rustic wooden discs
- A Christmas Tree as your Table Plan… with your guests names and seats hanging on tags or even better personalised baubles that could double up as favours.
- Or just Christmas Trees everywhere in general!
- How about something a little bit different, like this STUNNING Pampas Tree…?
- A stunning backdrop for photos that everyone will want to use for their Christmas Cards that year! – Flowers… balloons… the choice is yours!
- Decoration:
- Mistletoe Arch over your Ceremony Space
- Fake Snow for your Photos
- Candy Cane Place-cards
- Baubles over Foliage as your Table Runners
- ‘Baby it’s Cold Outside’ Signage above a fireplace or a basket of blankets for your guests to wrap up in.
- Stockings filled with Sweets & Kids Activity Packs for any little ones attending!
- Pinecones as place-card holders
- Pops of classic colours… red, green and gold everywhere…for your Candles, your Glassware, your napkins… as I said… everywhere!
- Lots and lots (and lots) of Fairy Lights
- Stationary:
- Reindeer Tables Names
- Invitations sent from the North Pole!
- Other:
- A festive scent! Candles burning with hints of cinnamon to satisfy all the senses!
- Christmas Crackers / Baubles as Favours
- Firepits (for toasting marshmallows for their Hot Chocolates!)
- Festive Photo Booth props (Reindeer Antlers, Elf Ears… you know the type!)
As you can see… a Christmas Theme would certainly be a magical one!
Well I Ho-Ho-Hope you’ve enjoyed this Festive Blog Post… its definitely made me want to renew my vows all over again and go ALL OUT with the Christmas Theme!
I’ll be sharing some Christmas Wedding Inspo images on my Insta story later today (I’ll save it to a highlight for any one reading this at a later date), and don’t forget to follow #theweddingtaylorchristmasadvent for more wedding tips every day until Christmas…
That’s all for now!
Merry Christmas to all… and to all a Goodnight!
Lots of Love,
Mrs T x
