A Brand NEW Series by The Wedding Taylor:
I am SO excited to introduce all you lovelies to my BRAND NEW SERIES:
‘Letters from Mrs to Miss’
This new series will feature Letters written from Wives to Brides, sharing their best bits, what went wrong or what they would do differently on their wedding day… things learned through our own wedding experiences that we can pass on to you.
My very first Wifey-Guest-Blogger is the fabulous Tillie from @tilliesdesigns.
Tillie not only inspired this series idea but also designed the beautiful images to go with it!
I am so excited about our little collab!
So without further ado… allow me to hand over to Mrs Whitehouse herself, to tell you her own wedding experience in her ‘Letter from Mrs to Miss’:
Dear Miss __insert your (soon to be changed) maiden name here!__,
First of all, let me just say Congratulations on your engagement! What an exciting time it is when you’re Wedding Planning!… Yes, it can be stressful but enjoy every second because us Wifey’s wish we could do it all over again!
Here’s my ‘Letter from Mrs to Miss’ from me to you:
My Best Bits:
- I was worried that I would be nervous saying my vows in front of our guests (60) – I was nervous until my eyes connected with Daniel’s (My Husband) and without sounding cheesy… everyone disappeared and all i could see was him.
- Before Daniel & I went in to the reception room we took a couple of minutes peering through the doors and just see all our loved ones. I think its really important to step back and just absorb the atmosphere.
- We had been liaising with the wedding planner for all the finer details i.e. decorations – We had chosen Church candles & Eucalyptus. When we got there the Wedding planner said that she felt as though she had to show us an alternative centre piece…. She showed us a tall vases with Lilys. My husband started to cry… These were Daniels mothers favourite flowers. Daniels mother passed away when he was 12 – This was wonderful it was like she was there and she had chose the centre pieces for us!
What I would do differently:
- We got married in a hotel in Cyprus… at one point we had 2 photographers, a videographer, 5 bridesmaids, myself, my wedding planner and my Mum & Dad in one room. One thing I would do differently would be to arrange rooms which are next to each other so we could be more spread out slightly.
- When the wedding planner said it’s time to go it was a bit of a ‘mad dash’… I wish that I had asked for 5 minutes by myself just to take the moment in check my makeup and just breathe.
- I wish I had saved some confetti or Sand from the beach we got married at for a keep sake. I’m in 2 minds about dry cleaning my wedding dress as my dress has our wedding day on the bottom (Yes, I’m a hopeless romantic!).
Things that went ‘wrong’ but we laugh about now:
- My mum forgot how to lace my wedding dress up – So the Cypriot photographer actually had to put me in my dress!
- We had to cut the cake early because the chef said it was ‘Sweating’ – It was 37c on our wedding day!
Tips from me to you:
- From the offset we kept saying that it’s our day and we will do what we want to do… I think it’s easy to get stuck thinking about what other people will think but at the end of the day it is YOUR day… do what makes you happy!
- We decided to take all of our guests, 2 days before the wedding, for a BBQ in the mountains to say thank-you. This was also a great opportunity to catchup with everyone and for people to meet each other prior to the day, it meant that on the wedding day we had done all the ‘catching up’ and we could just all talk and it was so chilled as people had all mingled prior… I definitely would recommend doing something like this!
It was truly the best day even though some things didn’t go to plan… but that’s ok! These are the things we now laugh about now. We had so much fun that at 12pm when the party stopped we got changed and then hit the town with 20 of our friends to keep the party going…we got in at 2am! (I also definitely recommend doing this too!)
I hope you’ve found something helpful in my Letter and I also hope that you have the most amazing Wedding Day… I am sure you will be a stunning Bride!
Enjoy your time as Miss… you’ll be a Mrs very soon!
Lots of Love,
Mrs Whitehouse xx
